We are a completely volunteer run organisation and therefore we rely on volunteers in order to achieve our mission of reducing single-use plastics in Sheffield. Please get in touch with us if you can help

Volunteering opportunities

  • Sheffield Events Research and Engagement Officer
    • Researching upcoming events in Sheffield and contacting them to encourage them to hire our reusable cups instead of using disposables
  • Plastic Free Markets Organising Assistant
    • The market aims to be the one-stop shop for helping people to reduce their single-use plastics and transition to a Plastic Free lifestyle. Tasks will vary, but will mainly consist of researching and contacting potential traders and musicians
  • Plastic Free Market Photographer
    • Be our photographer for our Plastic Free Market on Sunday 3rd November
  • Events Assistant
    • Supporting on stalls and at events we run, talking to the public about how they can reduce single-use plastics and about our projects
  • Plastic Free Market Event First Aider
    • Be a first aider for our Plastic Free Market on Sunday 3rd November
  • Research Assistant
    • Carry out research as to what Plastic Free products can be found where in Sheffield and add them to a directory
  • Plastic Free Swap Book Creator
    • Create a folder with each page showing a different Plastic Free swap
  • Social Media Content Creator
    • Produce content for social media that encourages people to reduce single-use plastics. Writing content and producing a graphic / finding a graphic to go alongside it
  • Social event organiser
    • Sheffield Action on Plastic have amazing volunteers who put a lot of time into making action happen. We are looking for a volunteer(s) who can help organise social events so that they can have downtime, relax, but also get to know each other
  • Video Creator
    • Produce some short videos that promote Sheffield Action on Plastic (our services) AND/OR videos that encourage people to reduce single-use plastics
  • Steering Group member
    • Sit on our steering group which meets around six times a year, discussing actions to pursue our objectives
