Plastic pollution is an issue that connects the environment with all parts of society, and is something that we can take action on at every level. Indeed, it will only be through concrete, collective, positive action that we will be able to catalyse the shift that is needed to stop the flood of plastic pollution from overwhelming our world.

Who are Sheffield Action on Plastic?

Sheffield Action on Plastic is a local environmental community organisation who mission is to work with the Sheffield community to reduce single-use plastics. Here is a list of what we do:

  • Offer a Reusable Cup Hire service with reusable pint cups, half pint cups, wine goblets and coffee cups for use at public and private events to reduce waste and the need for single-use disposable cups
  • Run The Sheffield Sustainable Markets – a one-stop shop to purchase sustainable gifts from local makers
  • Offer an online Plastic Free Swap guide to provide guidance on plastic free swaps you can make
  • Run a free 10-week email course ‘Unpacking Plastic’ to help you learn about the issues alongside advice on living with less plastic
  • Collaborate with Aquaguard Environmental Advisors to offer businesses and organisations Plastic Audits so that they can be presented with solutions on how to reduce single-use plastics
  • Run the Plastic Free Sheffield Central campaign and offer awards and publicity to businesses and community organisations who are working to reduce single-use plastics

The group is run entirely by volunteers and everyone is welcome to get involved in this exciting and rewarding campaign.
